A ramp to improve access and provide storage for bikes

The bike rack in front of the Countway Community Garden’s entrance is to be moved in anticipation of a ramp that is going to be built in its place. This poses the risk of the bike storage being pushed into the garden if we do not create an alterna- tive space for the bikes. We propose the construction of a second ramp that would not only retain access to the school from Huntington Avenue, but would create a space below it where bikes can be stored. Plants can also be grown along this ramp to make it visually appealing and add to the green space within the school. The ramp we propose has an elevation of 7 feet and a 1:16 slope ratio. Its total length is 115 feet and has two rest platform of 5 feet in length dividing the ramp in three slopes (refer to Image 1). These dimensions and features are within the ADA guidelines.
